Laudato Si Week

As you know it is Laudato Si week where we think about the letter that Pope Francis wrote to all human beings.
In His letter he asked that we all find ways to care for our common home - planet Earth. To try to reduce our waste by recycling the things that we can, using FOGO and putting rubbish in the correct place.
Our Enviro Ninjas, the Friday morning gardeners and the Yr 5 bin kids have been doing a wonderful job of composting your Crunch’n’sip scraps and feeding some to the worms. The worms have been creating good, rich soil for our plants to grow. And a Big thank you all of you, who come to school with a trash free lunch box.
The next action we would like to try is to save our drink containers from going into the red top bins and going to landfill. Most of us have our own re-reusable drink bottle, but if you have any bottles or juice boxes, could you please put them in the crates around the school so we can recycle them and earn money for St Vincent de Paul.

Botanic Gardens Day

Plant yourself at Wollongong Botanic Gardens from 10am this Sunday 26 May for a Botanic Gardens Day smorgasbord of free, nature-focused tours, talks and activities. Pioneered right here in Wollongong, the national day celebrates the role of plants in our lives and the work botanic gardens do to conserve and protect for future generations. Our Wollongong Botanic Gardens Curator, Felicity Skoberne, has promised an overgrown program for nature lovers young and old. For more information click on the link below

National Reconciliation Week

From the 27 May-3rd June, Australians celebrate National Reconciliation Week. The theme for 2024 is "NOW MORE THAN EVER." During class lessons students will have the opportunity to learn more about this topic, as well as be a part of two zoom learning opportunities about Indigenous authors and Coomaditchie artwork.
