On Wednesday the 14 August, a number of year five students attended the Children’s Literary Lunch at the Fraternity Club. The children had the opportunity to meet and greet around ten very talented local authors. Each school on the day, had one author seated on their table. We were lucky enough to have a chat to Kate Simpson over lunch, who is the author of Finding Granny and Dear Grandpa. Throughout the day we attempted the “Who, What, Where” challenge, where we had to draw a piece of card out of three bags, Our who, what and where were a ballerina (who), opening a present (what) and at a landfill site (where). After we completed the task we had to perform this in front of everyone. We ended up writing a poem and choreographed a dance to go with it, which the students performed quite well, with confidence. Some year fives were able to purchase a book and get it signed by the author. All together everyone had a terrific day.
