Here Ye', Here Ye'. In HSIE, Year 4 students have been learning about the First Fleet. On Friday the 6 September, we travelled to Sydney where we visited the Australian National Maritime Museum, toured a replica of Captain Cook's Ship - The Endeavour and had a walking tour of The Rocks. Participating in real-life experiences allowed the story of British Colonisation and its impact on the Eora people unfold for our young students. All students represented our school beautifully and had a thirst for knowledge throughout the day. Thank you Ms Moretti, Mrs Rathbone and Miss Tyndall and to our parent helpers, Mr Immens, Mr Duvall, Ms Pippen and Mrs Jacobson for ensuring Year 4 have every learning experience possible.
"Slop, Stew and Scurvy (gross)... these are a few of many things Year 4 learnt at the Maritime Museum in Sydney." - Quito
"#HMBENDEAVOUR To get below deck you need to hold a rope and climb backwards down a ladder. Once there, you could see tables with ropes holding them up. Below deck there was a block of the original ballast and a whip called a cat-of-nine tails" - Sophia
"The Endeavour, no electricity, the cook has been hit 100 times with the 'Cat of Nine Tails' (it's a whip), a lot of men squished into the 'mess', a place where they would eat and sleep. This is just a glimpse of what we experienced on our excursion to Sydney on Friday" - Phoenix
"Land ahoy! My favourite part of The Endeavour was learning about all the equipment and tools they used, like what they used for toilet paper and the Cat of Nine Tails'. The really important people like Captain Cook, Joseph Banks, Artists, Doctor and Botanists got to sleep in proper beds #HMBENDEAVOUR" - Chloe
